All You Need to Know About OPay’s New USSD Code
The Chinese-backed fintech startup, Opay recently launched a USSD code to enable seamless transaction for its customers
The company made the announcement on their official Twitter page, stating that with the *955# code, Nigerians will be able to make non-internet transactions – buy airtime, send money (OPay – OPay), check balance, and perform withdrawals – seamlessly. This introduction offers users the choice to bank anywhere, anytime regardless of whether you have internet or not.

To access the code, you would have to create an OPay account. Then, the service will let you carry out financial transactions on the mobile number connected to your OPay account.
You will be able to send money to another OPay account, buy airtime for yourself or someone else, make withdrawals and even check your account balance by entering designated USSD codes.
Considering the fact that the flyer advertising the service shows Airtel, 9mobile and MTN logo but no the Globacom logo, it would seem that the USSD code is not available for Globacom subscribers yet.
OPay’s popularity across Nigeria is growing. In the space of months, the company has, so far, introduced several innovative products like OCar, ORide, OTrike, and OFood amongst others. Weeks ago, news came in that the Opera-funded company is working on a messaging feature they have named Friend which will enable communications between friends and family who use the OPay app.
