Instagram To Roll Out ”Caption Warning” App To Identify Offensive Languages
Instagram is joining the league with Youtube as it will start warning users of offensive captions
According to Instagram, it will be using artificial intelligence (AI) in order to identify offensive languages, which will give users the chance to modify their captions before it is been shared.
The new feature tagged “Caption Warning”, will be able to show users a notification that reads “This caption looks similar to others that have been reported”. This then gives users the option to edit the post and also know why it has been flagged.
This is just one of the ways the company is taking measures against bullying. The company introduced a similar AI early this year, July to be precise for its comments section. It gave users the chance to undo their comments, which prevented the recipient from receiving harmful comment notifications.
There is also a feature named “Restrict” which was added by the company. This gives the users the ability to hide comments from a specific set of people without them knowing.
However, the app (Caption Warning), will be selection countries when it is rolled out but will expand globally in the coming months.
